In just three minutes, we'll provide the top tips for using Med-Challenger for the Boards or any other upcoming career assessment.
Med-Challenger offers a variety of tools to help you prepare to excel on your upcoming test. And because we know that different people learn in different ways, there is no "right way" to use Med-Challenger.
Study By Topic
One approach is to work systematically through the topical material to assess your strengths and weaknesses. We recommend that you take this approach with at least one topic as it's a great way to learn your way around the course material.
- Open your course. On the left, vertical menu, choose a chapter in which you would like to work such as Cardiovascular Disease. Click it to expand.
- Select a Topic such as Hypertension, click it to expand then click Q&A.
- Click Start Assessment to begin a scored assessment for that topic. When scored, a Prescriptive Report will be available in which you can look over any missed questions (if any) to see how you answered it. The correct answer will be indicated and information provided for the question to improve knowledge and understanding.
- If your score is 80% or better, look over the missed Q’s on the prescriptive report and move on to the next topic.
- If less than 80% was earned, use the Review and Practice tabs to get familiar with the material, make a note and come back a few days later to take the Assessment again.
Board Exam Simulator
If you want to do a quick assessment of your strengths and weaknesses, this is a good place to start. The Board Exam Simulator contains 100 random questions designed to mirror board exam subject matter specifications. Our adaptive engine adjusts the questions each time so you're not wasting time on material you already know. With the Prescriptive Report that is provided each time you complete a Board Exam Simulator, you'll get an excellent perspective on your preparation as a whole. By the way, don't worry if you see repeat questions - that's by design. Our proprietary algorithm gives missed questions a very high priority. We recommend taking the Board Exam Simulator at least five times throughout your preparation.
Crash Exam
Another approach to preparation is with our Crash Review. Just like the name says, Crash Assessments let users simply “crash” through all the questions in the total pool – randomly – without any strategic repetition of missed questions. Crash Assessments WILL NOT issue previously answered questions before all questions are seen and answered - right or wrong - at least once. In fact, if you have answered a specific question anywhere – through a board exam simulation, a chapter exam, a CME topic quiz, etc. – the Crash Assessment will know. Only after all questions have been answered once will previously missed questions in the total question pool start to be re-served in subsequent attempts of that specific assessment. Crash Assessments are a great tool to “mop up” any unseen or unanswered Q&A left in a question pool after other review activities have been used.
